 IMPORTANT INFORMATION Fall/Winter 2011-12

 

Cheques are payable to:  Guelph Figure Skating Club (G.F.S.C.)

No skater will be allowed on the ice or participate in tests until a registration form has been processed and paid.

 

Payment Schedule for program registrations of more than $1,000.00 for the same skater:

Deposit with registration, 20% of total. Post date Oct.1, 2011, 20% of total. Post date Nov.1, 2011, 20% of total. Post date Dec.1, 2011, 20% of total. Post date, Jan.15, 2012 20% (balance) of total. Please see the Club Administrator if you wish to make these payments with your credit card.

 

Family Discount:  A $35 discount applies to families with 3 or more children registered concurrently during a session. Please apply for credit at our Club office.

 

Cancellation:  The G.F.S.C. reserves the right to change or cancel any program for which there is insufficient paid registration.

 

Refunds Pre CanSkate and CanSkate only:  Refunds will only be offered for cancellation of a registration within the first 2 lessons of a skating session. The request must be made in writing to the Board of Directors prior to the 3rd lesson. The Skate Canada fee will not be refunded. No refund will be given for missed skating sessions or for those sessions cancelled due to test nights, inclement weather or building maintenance problems. Nor for any of the listed non-skate dates below.

 

Refunds all other Programs:  Refunds are only provided with a medical note and written notification to the Board of Directors.  The Skate Canada fee will not be refunded.  No refund will be given for missed skating sessions or for those sessions cancelled due to test nights, inclement weather or building maintenance problems. Withdrawals: Unless for medical reasons (note required) withdrawal requests must be made in writing to the Board of Directors at least 1 week prior to the start of the first skating lesson. The granting of said request shall not be unreasonably withheld. A refund of the program fee will be given less a $10. administrative fee. The Skate Canada fee will not be refunded. Withdrawal from the program for reasons other than medical or without Board approval does not remove the obligation to honour postdated cheques.

           

NSF Cheques:  NSF cheques will be charged an administrative fee of $30.  Skaters cannot skate until all outstanding fees are paid in full by cash or certified cheque.

 

Program Change:  A $10 administrative fee will be charged for any program change received once an application has been processed.  Program Change Requests recommended by a Coach are exempt from this fee.

 

G.F.S.C. Professional Coaches:  Coaches with our Club are selected based on their qualifications and the needs of our membership.  All of our coaches have a minimum Level 1 certification from Skate Canada.  In order to be a coach in good standing with Skate Canada all coaches are required to hold a current First Aid Certificate. A list of our Coaches can be found on our web site and posted on the bulletin board in the viewing lounge at Exhibition Arena.

 

Orientation:  Information sessions will be provided for the parents of Pre CanSkaters and CanSkaters during the second week of the session. Notice will be sent via email and posted at the arena.

 

Skate Canada Registration:

This is a mandatory fee for all of our skaters. The yearly membership runs from September 1st through to August 31st of the following year.  Skate Canada is the largest figure skating governing body in the world. Among the many benefits of being a Skate Canada member, are they provide the standards and rules for the skating activities of our members. This enables us to provide top quality programs lead by well qualified coaches. They also provide for our Club's insurance. Being a Skate Canada sanctioned club we are required to register every skater.

Ontario Promotional Ticket Booklet

Ontario Promotional Tickets: $40.00.  This is a mandatory fee, one per family, and is our major fundraiser for the year. The tickets are for a draw to be held in March 2012. There are many prizes to be won including items such as a brand new vehicle, jumbo flat screen TV etc. The ticket booklet contains twenty $2.00 tickets that you can sell to family and friends if you wish to recoup your cost. Otherwise just fill in your own name on the ticket stubs and return to our office for 20 chances at winning a prize. You can pick up your ticket booklet at the club office.

 

StarSkate / Competitive Programs Base Fee

This mandatory fee only applies to the StarSkate and Competitive Programs. The StarSkate and Competitive base fee is in place to offset the cost of several events throughout the year that these skaters are eligible to take part in and benefit from. These items include Test Days, Bursary Show, Ice Show (greater participation) and Guest Skating.

 

Smile Great News! Your Board of Directors is pleased to announce that there is no price increase this year. All of our program prices are the same as Fall/Winter 2010-11.

 

Winter Holiday Break

Due to the way the calendar falls this year, our Group Programs which are the

Pre CanSkate, CanSkate and Intermediate Programs, will have a three week winter Holiday break. For group programs there is no skating from December 18th, 2011 through to January 2nd, 2012.

 

For the Competitive Development Programs that include a StarSkate “A” day, StarSkate “A” & “B” and Competitive Programs there will be a two week Holiday break. For these programs there is no skating from December 26th, 2011 through to January 8nd, 2012.

 

 

Non-Skating Days:  There are several days throughout our skating season were we could not obtain ice rentals due to hockey/ringette tournaments or other events. Below is a list of non-skating days that we are aware of as of the start of registration. The membership will to the best of our ability be made aware of any changes to this list.

Your Board of Directors will endeavour to obtain an alternate date for these days whenever possible.  Competitive Skaters please note that there is a change of venue for some dates. You will be notified in advance of these changes by email.
